All Ages 01:33
There’s sickness among us Try to see who gives a fuck Or is just chasing a dated dream Brought to them by sleek marketing Sunshine, violence and grooming Tell me how you couldn’t see Tell me why I’m culpable What the fuck are we doing? How much profit is enough to make? How many lives will it take ? How many children must be raped ? For you to feel like you’re not fake Social capital left to spend Why won’t you bring to an end The influence of these horrible men Destroy punk rock, fuck your friends If it takes me burning my HICKEY tapes Don’t think it’s a sacrifice I won’t make There’s no room for chasing fame Otherwise we’re just the same As the mainstream we rebelled against The only way left to make a difference, The fastest way to be free is to THROW CALIFORNIA INTO THE SEA!

The roaring anger of middle aged white men The shock of consumerism bites at us again A nation glued together With the will to spend Our lives hoping for something better for our children Will be found in the output of unknown slaves Asking for a little equity but who are kept away They'll say the world gets smaller and it isn't that far-fetched If you don't speak American, you deserve what you get We'll lie pretend that everything is gonna be okay That we are somewhat competent Don't let your hair turn grey Don't be so damn delusional You know that it's a fact, We'll give you money to shut you up Well, I would like to picture you Smothered 'neath my truck Begging for the right to breath and I don't give a fuck About what happens to you Or this whole goddamn world I'll take that money, but I won't shut up.

Sun shines in my trailer Down in Cœur D’Alene Google “impending doom” I want to make a change They’re lawless out in Ballard No order I can see To defend our slice of paradise, You have to act preemptively So I set off in my Bronco, West on I-90 To make these fucking soy boys honor our country “We got so much in common Facing the destruction of our race ZOG-run mind control Can’t they see what’s at stake?” “This ain’t no Nazi city, baby We will defend our own” So we dragged down the street ’Til his blood flowed in the road We beat him with our baseball bats ’Til his eyeballs did explode That’s the day Earl learned “anne-tee-fuh” Means “Antifaschistische Aktion”

Pills 01:50
I was laying in a hospital bed A Republican nurse went through my head He said “hold out your arm, stick out your tongue I got some pills, boy, I'm going to give you one” He went through my head, through my head Through my head, through my head He went to my head, through my head While I was laying in a hospital bed He gave me pills from my toes When they didn’t ache He gave me pills for profit But too little too late He gave me pills for my heart To put me at ease This Republican nurse had me on my knees! He went through my head, through my head Through my head, through my head He went to my head, through my head While I was laying in a hospital bed Nurses, nurses, can't you see I don't like this shit y’all are giving me? Give me a pill or give me a shot You got me wondering what the fuck have I got? They went through my head, through my head Through my head, through my head They went to my head, through my head While I was laying in a hospital bed Doctor, doctor, run here and see I don't like this shit this nurse giving me So, she gave me a shot, she gave me some pills I'm taking this junk against my will! She went through my head, through my head Through my head, through my head She went to my head, through my head While I was laying in a hospital bed

Wasting my time Wasting my life Running away from you I don’t know why I can’t look back Admit we were both wrong Now I don’t know Where I should go This country spit me out If it weren’t for your disease Think of what we could be The answer that we sought When we were young with dumpsters and scams Taking on their war machine

Stood downtown for four hours On the fourth January day Cold wind blowing in my face And I’m thinking of the words to say “How do you not know we’re at war And all that entails? You spent a year in Afghanistan That did not end well” It’s just so sad that the ruling class Can walk all over you Feed you racism and hatred, while they look down on you From their mansions in Potomac, where they consume away their guilt While we’re still standing on this street corner hoping we don’t get killed Brutality, progress, call it what you will Seems like they’ve got a plan for us but there’s something we can do I woulda told you I’m a Jew, but then you’d hate me too

This world is crushing and cruel It will lead to violent thoughts Drugs, booze and paranoia Total destruction at any cost I wish we could make you happy Understand that no effort is As useless as it seems I wish you could see that you’re not Not alone, no you’re not alone

about

Thank you for listening to our music. We have worked hard on this project with friends from all over the world. Without the aid of modern technology, a project like this would have taken years to complete waiting on our various countries’ postal services to ship tapes back and forth to one another. The speed and ease of cloud computing completely made this band possible. It allowed us to be creative together despite the onset of a crippling global pandemic and ensuing economic depression.

That same speed and ease has largely consolidated the marketplace around music into the hands of two or three large companies (Amazon, Google, and Apple), every platform we use (including this one) provides substantial income for these companies. Every stream we make further enriches people who have no interest in making art, this is simply naked commerce. It goes without saying that all of our computers, mobile phones and the servers on which the internet that connects them all depend on rare earth elements which has prolonged the war in Afghanistan and exacerbated conflicts in Africa and South America, and that is before we even get in to the labor practices that make all these cheap electronics accessible the world over.

It is useless to pretend there was ever a golden age where people cared about art more than commerce. For all their pretentions, even Dischord Records and Maximum Rock and Roll were dependent on major distributors in their heyday, which is why I could buy their collective oeuvres at the Barnes and Noble in Huntsville, Alabama as a child. It has never been easy to create truly independent music and by signing up for a platform like Bandcamp, we are relinquishing some of our independence. I have made a calculated decision that it is better to be on a platform like this to expand the scope of our audience and give more people than our immediate circle of friends a chance to hear this music.

It does not seem like there is much of an alternative to signing on with these platforms which monopolize the pipes of the Internet into a type of walled garden of which AOL could have only dreamt. Even bands who once shunned using the Internet at all like TRAGEDY are now a part of these platforms because this is how music listening habits have evolved. Most of us involved in this project have also personally contributed to this transformation by changing our listening habits to go with modern convenience. This letter not meant to accuse anyone, just point out the problem as it currently exists.

The conversation does not have to end here. There is still the possibility of creating a new alternative way of distributing music to the underground that does not solely depend on the very people we have spent our lives singing against. What does it mean when Crimethinc is on Apple/Google podcast apps? Why is CRASS on Spotify? Why do I have the option to buy a JOEY TAMPON AND THE TOXIC SHOCKS record on Amazon? There are a lot of smart people involved in underground counterculture, and we can think of an alternative to the current status quo. Maybe people are too tired to think about something new? Maybe our jobs are bogging us down too much that we cannot dedicate the time to create something outside of this mainstream ecosystem? I think we can make something new and I believe that many of us want to. Most artists are not happy with how their work has been devalued by businesspeople who have no interest in ever making any art. When will enough be enough?

Please download these songs directly onto whatever device you want. You will make a difference in not creating revenue for these streaming companies. All our songs are and will always be free. If you want to donate, we will give any money made to help free political prisoners around the world/pay cash bail in the United States. Feel free to make a tape with any of our songs and share them on peer to peer file sharing networks. Soulseek has long been one of the best places to find new DIY music and it still works. You can download a copy at www[dot]slsknet[dot]org.

Thank you for reading this long note. I hope you can destroy whatever system is oppressing you wherever you live.

credits

released September 24, 2020

On this recording, NO DOPE FOR THE KIDS was:

David – Vocals, Synthesizers, Guitar
Nadav – Vocals
Liz – Vocals
Itai – Guitar
Bitto – Vocals

Nadav and David wrote all the music except for “Let Jeff Bezos’ Head Roll” which was originally written in 1956 by R&B legends SHIRLEY AND LEE and “Pills” which was originally written in 1961 by the amazing rock and roller, BO DIDDLEY. David wrote the lyrics. Every track except number 2 was recorded next door to a trap house in the West End of Hagerstown, Maryland between December 2019 and June 2020. Thanks to the good folks at the trap house for never calling the cops on us for raising ass, we would never call them on you! Track 2 was recorded in a house outside of Benson, Vermont that had no neighbors in July 2020.

This project was mixed and mastered by the great Valery Shpolansky at Val-U-Music Studios (val-u-music.com) in beautiful Rosh Ha-Ayin throughout the Summer of 2020.

Thank you to everyone out on the streets in all the countries we’ve ever called home fighting for a better world. We love y’all. We wish you righteous strength to crush our enemies and to realize what punk should have always been about; worldwide connections among people who are unimpressed with the path laid out for them, seeking to create something new and exciting.
